Ok, as you all know, I went to Oktoberfest this weekend. A lot happened, so I’ll try to keep this as brief as I can. We left Friday around 6:49 pm for a 12 hour train ride to Munich. It was 12 hours because we had a 5 hour layover in Nuremburg at midnight. Anyways, we arrived at the hotel room at around 6:49 in the morning and slept for a couple of hours. After our nap, we arrived at Oktoberfest at around 10:00 am. We finally entered a biergarten at the Lowenbrau at approximately, 10:30. During that time, I had a few beers here and there while meeting some new friends from New Zealand and Italy. We stayed there until about 11:30 at night to head to bed for the night. Unfortunately, we lost a couple of people, so I and another person had to go search for them. Without any luck, we had to hurry back to the train station considering we only had 15 minutes until the last train left for our hotel. Eventually, we got there but arrived there just a few minutes too late, so we had to stay in the train station for 5 hours until we could catch the next train. After chatting with a Chilean girl and a couple hours of sleep, we got on a train heading out to our hotel. We didn’t arrive at our hotel til almost 7:00 am that morning. Two of us were planning on heading to Munich again around 9:30, but since one of our group members didn’t show up still, we decided to wait til he arrived. He didn’t meet us until 1:00 pm, so we ended up not going back because it was too late. It was probably a good idea considering how tired and worn out we were. Finally, we arrived back in Marburg around 9:00 pm. Despite all the struggles and long rides to and from, I can most certainly say it was well worth the trip. It certainly lived up to the hype, and I hope I can go back again some day! Well, now we’re off to Berlin (I can never catch a break, can I?)
Here it is everybody! The moment you have all been waiting for! Well, me in particular! I have finally arrived in Frankfurt, Germany on time surprisingly considering my plane bound for Philly arrived an hour late. Any minute later, they would have left me behind. Fortunately, it’s all done and over with, and have arrived safe and sound with a bit of fatigue. Although since my flight was late, my baggage won’t arrive here until tomorrow morning which is certainly a bummer. Good thing I packed some in my carry on! (Always be prepared. Boy Scouts motto!) Despite the fact that I am completely tired from my long flight, I still found myself speaking impressive German to the baggage claim lady asking about my luggage. Seems like I didn’t lose it all completely over the summer! Just waiting for my friend Oliver to pick me up at the airport at 12:30! I just can’t believe I’m finally here! What a dream come true!!!
